Thomas Michael Lockwood, a beloved spirit whose laughter echoed through every corner of his life, was born on September 28, 1942, Ogdensburg, New York. He lived a full and vibrant life, marked by an unwavering dedication to his family, community, and the many endeavors that defined his character. On October 16, 2024, he peacefully departed this world and probably had a cheeky comment for St. Peter when he was checking in.
A man of considerable talents, Thomas owned several Napa Auto parts stores across New York and dedicated 20 years to working at Napa in Chiefland. Along with his brothers, he proudly co-owned Tre-bro's Clamming in Cedar Key, bringing both quality and humor to their maritime venture. His work was not just a means to an end, but a showcase of his industrious spirit and commitment to excellence in everything he undertook.
In addition to his entrepreneurial successes, Thomas was a proud veteran who served six years in the United States Marine Corps. His military service instilled in him discipline and camaraderie, qualities that he carried into every aspect of his life. Friends and family knew him as a consummate jokester, someone who could make anyone laugh with a well-timed crude joke or a playful tease. He had an extraordinary ability to light up a room, imparting a sense of joy that resonated long after he spoke.
Thomas was passionate about his hobbies, often found engaging in lively games of Bingo at the VFW in Cross City, and reveling in trips to Biloxi, where adventure awaited around every corner. His zest for travel reflected his curiosity about the world and his enjoyment of new experiences, making every journey a cherished story to recount.
His heart was as expansive as his interests, illustrated through his generous support of charities and non-profits, including St. Jude's Children's Hospital and the Multiple Sclerosis Association of America. Such acts of kindness embodied the core of who he was, leaving an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to benefit from his philanthropy.
Thomas is survived by his devoted wife, Glenda Lockwood of Chiefland, and their beloved daughter, Leslie (David) Hart of Branford. His legacy extends proudly through his grandchildren, Larissa (Nathan) Simmons of Fanning Springs and Kenneth (Amanda) Simmons of Chiefland, Ashley Davies of Fanning Springs and his great-grandchildren: Mason, Mayley, Mavery, Cadence, Khori, Parker, and River, each carrying a part of him within their hearts. He is also remembered fondly by his brother, Charles (Judy) Lockwood of Syracuse, NY, and sister-in-laws Marlene Simpson of Chiefland, and Sylvia Lockwood of Ogdensburg, NY.
He now joins those who have passed before him, including his father, Charles Lockwood, his mother, Tina La Plante Lockwood, dear brother Richard "Dick" Lockwood, and brother-in-law Robert "Bob" Simpson. Although he has departed from our sight, the laughter and love he shared will continue to ring in our ears as we remember his remarkable life. He told his last inappropriate joke about a month ago to his daughter. Since kids will be reading this, we will not be printing it here.
A funeral to honor Thomas will be held on Wednesday, October 30th at Watson-Milton Funeral Home, Trenton at 2:00 PM. The family will receive friends for a visitation beginning at 1:00 PM. Thomas will be laid to rest immediately following the service at Cedar Key Cemetery.
