Tawnya Mathews Jenkins, a beloved Bell, Fl community figure and cherished family member, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2024, at Haven Hospice in Chiefland, Florida. Born on February 2, 1960, in Gainesville, Florida, Tawnya was a vibrant spirit who brightened the lives of everyone around her.
She leaves her devoted husband, Alfred Kimmy Jenkins, and her step son, Alfred Kimmy "Buddy" (Melanie) Jenkins, from Branford, Florida. Tawnya's love extended to her sisters, Terry (Rick) Carnley and Tiffany (Tim) Liles, both from Bell, Florida. Her heart was filled with pride for her grandsons, Danny Jenkins and Zander Curry, whose lives she enriched with her unwavering support and affection. Additionally, she is survived by her brothers-in-law, Guy (Debbie) Jenkins from Dunnellon, Fl, Robbie (Cathy) Jenkins from Perry, Fl, and Jeff (Dale) Jenkins from High Springs, Fl, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family who will miss her dearly.
A proud graduate of Bell High School, where she served as a cheerleader, Tawnya later pursued her passion for beauty at the cosmetology school at Lake City Community College, now known as Florida Gateway College.Tawnya's career as a successful cosmetologist spanned over 30 years, during which she owned "Sweet Magnolia" and brought beauty and confidence to many in her hometown. Her time spent working in the Florida Keys was also a highlight of her professional journey.
Her accomplishments extended beyond her professional life; Tawnya was an avid fan and supporter of the Bell Bulldogs and the Florida Gators. She was always eager to lend her time and resources to support every fundraiser presented to her, embodying the spirit of generosity that defined her personality. Tawnya loved people and her community deeply, always spreading positivity and encouragement wherever she went.
She was preceded in death by her father, Elvin Mathews, mother, Yvonne (Jit) Rolling Mathews, and brother, Tyrone (Sam) Mathews. Their cherished memories will continue to live on through the love and kindness Tawnya so freely shared with those around her.
A Celebration of Life honoring Tawnya will be held on November 16, 2024, at Bell High School, located at 930 S Main St, Bell, FL 32619, starting at 11:00 AM. All who knew Tawnya are invited to share in remembrance of her extraordinary life.
As we gather to celebrate Tawnya, we will remember not only her incredible contributions to her community and family but the warmth and positivity she infused into our lives. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know her.
