Shirley Ann Robinson

In 1972, Shirley and Ron moved their family from Ohio to Florida, where they made their home in the Trenton area for many years. They later moved to Alachua County, Florida, where they eventually built a home in Jonesville. Shirley worked in the soil testing department at IFAS on the University of Florida campus for over twenty years before retiring at age 67. She was a big Gators fan. She enjoyed making crocheted and quilted blankets and wall hangings. Many in the family have been gifted with the talents of her handiwork through the years. She also loved to travel. She had been to all 50 states and to many countries all around the world. She would often tell stories of her many travelling adventures from walking on the Great Wall of China, running aground on a ship sailing down the Amazon, wading through the Jordan River, and riding on a camel in the Arabian Desert at age 80.

 

Shirley loved her family and was blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was truly the light of our family and we treasured the times we could all get together. She had obeyed the Gospel from her youth and for over twenty years had been a member of the Glen Springs Church of Christ in Gainesville.

 

Shirley was proceeded in death by her husband, her parents, her two brothers: Kenneth Turner and Jimmy Turner, and a grandson, Matthew Robinson. She is survived by four sons: Steve (Thesesa) Robinson, Eric Robinson, Tim Robinson, and Chris Robinson; five grandchildren: Christina, Melissa, Megan, Will, and Alicia; and eight great-grandchildren.

 

A visitation to honor Shirley will take place on Monday, December 11th, 2023, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Watson-Milton Funeral Home, Trenton.
