Robert Cantrell

April 12, 1949 — December 18, 2023

Robert “Bob” Burl Cantrell, age 74, of Trenton, FL passed away unexpectedly on December 18, 2023, at UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville, FL. Born in Columbus, OH, Bob relocated to south Florida with his family as a teenager. After high school, he got a job in home construction which led to him working for himself, building and selling houses. He soon married the love of his life, Gina, and the two would enjoy almost 50 years of marriage together. Providing for his family was a priority. After a few years of marriage, he opened his own trucking company, Bob’s Trucking. This later expanded into a land clearing business, Cantrell’s Excavating, which he owned and operated until he retired in 2014 and moved to Trenton, Florida. In his younger years, Bob loved to surf and spend time at the beach. After having kids, he became active in coaching sports and working with the young people at church, leaving a lasting, positive impact on many. Bob always had projects going on. He loved working in the yard, being outside, and golfing. He loved to laugh and was known as being a prankster. His wit, kindness, compassion, and generosity shone through in all his words and actions. Everyone knew Bob from the big smile he always had on his face and his friendly wave. He was a member of Trenton Church of Christ and will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Gina Cantrell of Trenton; children, Robbie Cantrell of Columbus, OH; Stacy Fleming of Billings, MO; Brian Cantrell of Richmond, TX; and Robert (Stephanie) Cantrell, II of Trenton; grandchildren, Kelsey, Kourtney, Kiley, Karalee, Kolton, Jaden, Rocco, Halie, Burl, and Anna; sisters, Iona “Bunny” (Harvey) Hatten of Ashley, OH; and Carolynn Basham of Delaware, OH; and "brother" Jeffery Staffa. Numerous extended family also survive.

A visitation and celebration of Bob’s life will be held on Friday, December 22, from 4-6:00pm at Watson-Milton Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest with a private family ceremony at Chiefland Cemetery on Saturday, December 23. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Watson-Milton Funeral Home, Trenton. 352-463-8888 www.WatsonMilton.com
