Richard Philip Padot Sr., born on November 2, 1932, in Monroe, Michigan, passed away peacefully at his home on April 19, 2025, surrounded by his beloved family. Richard lived a life rich in accomplishments and valued relationships, leaving behind a legacy of love, humility, and wisdom.
Throughout his distinguished career, Richard dedicated 30 years of service as an engineer with General Telephone, where he applied his skills and knowledge to help shape the technological advancements of his time. His work ethic and commitment to excellence were admirable traits that defined his professional journey.
Richard's educational years were marked by his prowess as an accomplished athlete. He was both a celebrated football player and a track star at St. Petersburg High School, showcasing his discipline and dedication from a young age. His spirit of determination carried him into the United States Navy, where he served during the Korean War, reflecting his willingness to give back to his country.
A proud family man, Richard was married to Kathryn for nearly 72 years, a union that exemplified partnership and unconditional love. Together, they raised three sons: David (Marites) Padot, Joel (Marietta) Padot, and Richard “Philip” Padot Jr. The couple were also blessed with 10 grandchildren: David Jr (Wendy), Jennifer (Marty), Joel II (Bobbie), Robert (Brandi), Richard, Tiffany, Christopher (Rebecca), Kathryn (Wesley), Racheal, and Emily (Ramces) ; and 20 great-grandchildren, Abby, Lillian, Ella, Brooke, Gavin, Levi, Logan, Alexia, Amelia, Makenzie, John Michael, Summer, Mira, Wesley Jr, Jayden, Leyna, Clayton, Landon, Harmony, and Laelia; and one great-great grandchild, Orion.
In addition to his professional and family life, Richard had a diverse array of hobbies and interests. He was an avid Florida Gator fan and found joy in outdoor activities such as fishing and hunting. His creativity shone through in his artistic endeavors, where he enjoyed freehand drawing and painting, particularly of animals. His passion for making fishing lures further illustrated his connection to nature and the outdoors.
Richard will be remembered for his quiet, humble demeanor and his generous spirit. He was a man whose priorities centered around his faith and family, and his influence will continue to resonate in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Fredolen and Ruby Padot and his two brothers, Gerald and Ronald Padot.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Richard's life at Watson-Milton Funeral Home in Trenton. Visitation will take place on April 23, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Richard will be laid to rest at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors.
