Margie Elizabeth Asher, age 84, of Bell, FL, passed away on January 9, 2022, peacefully amongst a few loved ones. She was born on March 28, 1937, in Orlando, to Oscar H. Sphaler and Ethridge Lee Futch. She grew up and lived in central Florida before moving to the mountains of East Tennessee. After her husband passed, she moved back to central Florida, finally calling Bell home since 1998. She was an active member of the Gilchrist County Senior Center where she loved to organize and participate in Bingo games. Ms. Asher was very friendly and never met a stranger. Whether young or old, if they needed a meal or just someone to listen, her door, as well as her heart, was always open. To her, family was not only those related but all those friends (too many to mention but you know who you are) whom loved her. She also loved her animals and always had a cherished dog by her side, leaving behind her final loving canine companion, Cayo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bobby Ray Asher; sons, Jerry Walter Yates Jr. and Paul Leslie Yates; brothers, Gordon and the brother she most protected, Otis Sphaler; as well as the father of her children, Jerry Walter Yates, Sr.
Ms. Asher is survived by her children, Darlyne Guldi- (Robert) Mula of Melbourne, FL, Lynda (Darrell) Purifoy of Lutz, FL, and Jerry Lee Yates of Bell; grandchildren, Sabra Elizabeth Purifoy, Brooke Amber Yates, Mistrie Lee Yates, and Kelsei Adleen Yates; 6 great-grandchildren; sister, Arminta Tyson of Orlando and Linda Campbell of Bell; numerous nieces, one of importance, Dale Tyson; nephews, and cousins also survive.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital, in Ms. Asher's memory.
