Lois Winell Scott, age 87, of Trenton, Florida, passed away on June 27 at Haven Hospice in Chiefland, Florida. She was born on October 22, 1934, to Ralph Eaton Seiler and Louise “Dolly” Stevens in Kendricks, Florida, but relocated to Trenton, Florida, in February 1954, after marrying Thomas “Tom” Scott, where she spent the remaining of her life. Lois and Thomas had a beautiful marriage of 68 years. Lois loved flowers, sewing, spending time with family, and playing the piano. She retired after 40 years of working with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDS) and Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service (ASCS). Following retirement, she worked for 15 years selling quilts and supplies at Suwannee Valley Quilt Shop and was an election poll worker in Gilchrist County for many years. She was the pianist for the church, and she taught others along the way. Lois was a prominent member of the community where she served as treasurer of many clubs, including the Trenton Library Club, Spring House Quilt Club, and treasurer of her Sunday Class at Pine Grove. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Lottie Barrington.
Lois is survived by her husband of 68 years, Thomas “Tom” Scott of Trenton, Florida, brother; Walton Seiler of Marion County, Florida; sisters, Mae Keeling and Nina Leak of Marion County, Florida, and Laverne Hoover of Mississippi; and sister-in-law, Karen Folks of Carrabelle, Florida.
A funeral to honor Lois's life will be held on Friday, July 1, at 11:00 pm at Pine Grove Church in Gilchrist County. The family will receive friends for viewing at 10:00 am at the church. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Watson-Milton, Trenton. 352-463-8888. www.WatsonMilton.com
