Lewis Michael Pruitt

Lewis Michael Pruitt, “Mike” to friends and “Mick” to family passed on to glory entering heaven on February 3, 2023. He was 61 years old.

 He was born in Tampa, FL on February 20, 1961, to Edwin Ray Pruitt and Judith Maria Wilson. He grew up in Marietta, Ohio where he enjoyed bicycling, trapping, fishing, and hiking. Mike spent his summers in Tampa, FL.

 Mike returned to Florida marrying at the age of 18. Two children were born from this union, Jessica Lynn (Kevin) Petroff and Amanda Jean (Chad) Frevert all of Zephyrhills, FL. They survive their father as well as two grandchildren Tyler and Tatum Suggs and his siblings Lee Pruitt, Daniel Pruitt, Pat O’Curran, John O’Curran, Karen Hileman, Kathy Lavely, Rebecca Bermudez, Michael Smith, and Ed Smith; numerous nieces and nephews and extended family also survive.

Later in life Mike met Debbie in Newberry, FL while he was working on a home directly behind her house. They married in 1993 in Trenton, FL and made Newberry there home for 29 years. Mike was a patient, kind, and generous man. He had a sense of humor and loved people. He stated his customers were the best in the world and had a great relationship with them. He enjoyed reading about aircraft and flew Ultralite’s. He loved war history and collected firearms. Mike opened his own business, Pruitt’s Heating and Air as a Class B contractor in 1994, serving the tri-county area.Mike was a member of Union Baptist Church of Newberry, FL.

He was a loving father and husband who was loved and treasured by all who knew him. There are no words for how much he will be missed.  He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Deborah “Debbie” Benson Pruitt of Newberry, FL. He was very proud of his wife who is employed by the Department of Juvenile Justice as a Sr. Juvenile Probation officer for 41 years. Mike was not afraid of death and knew his Saviour redeemed his soul and prepared a place for him to enjoy eternal life with God.
