Ms. LaVerne Faircloth Colson, age 82, of Trenton, Florida, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2021, at Ayers Health and Rehabilitation Center in Trenton. Ms. LaVerne was born on January 13, 1939, in Levy County to Clyatt Faircloth and LaNieve Margret Garner Faircloth. Her beloved grandmother was Ruth Hiers Faircloth.
After graduating high school, she attended Jones Business College majoring in secretarial and bookkeeping. She worked for the Gilchrist County School Board and then for the Levy County Tax Collector as an Assistant for 34 years. She enjoyed life and everything beautiful. She loved gardening, interior decorating, and her dogs. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George Colson; and siblings, Jay Faircloth and Jeanette Swilley.
Ms. Colson is survived by her daughters, Robin Colson of Tallahassee, Vivian Driscoll of Newberry, and Ann (Steve) Kroll of Fanning Springs; her six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; sister, Grace (Bill) Hulsizer of Dunnellon; numerous extended family also survive.
A funeral service to honor Ms. Colson’s life will be held on Thursday, September 16, at 3:00 pm at Watson-Milton Funeral Home in Trenton. The family will receive friends for a visitation beginning at 2:00 pm at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Ebenezer Cemetery in Chiefland. Pastor Jeremy Tatom of Fellowship Baptist Church will be officiating her services.
