Jonathan Walter Thomas Jones

Jonathan Jones, age 53, of High Springs, entered the presence of Jesus on April 22, 2022, while fishing on his boat, the Miabelle, off the coast of Horseshoe, in the Gulf of Mexico. He was born on August 10, 1968, to William H. and Helen “June” Jones and grew up in Gainesville. After marrying the love of his life, Shannon L. Golden Jones, the couple moved to Gilchrist County where he would spend the rest of his life. Jonathan was an avid fisherman who loved being on the water. After Covid shut the country down, he founded “Papa’s Daycare” and was the active CEO. Family meant everything to him and he took every advantage to spend time with them. He was a longtime member of Pine Grove Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his sister, Cindy H. Jones-Heddy, and his grandson, Brandon Wesley Bongiovanni.

Jonathan is survived by his wife of 33 years, Shannon L. Jones; his children, Jonathan “Thomas” (Ariana) Jones Jr. and Jessica Jones (Kyle) Bongiovanni; his grandchildren, Mia R. and Nathan A. Jones, Annabelle M. Bongiovanni, Daniel B. Jones, Beau W. Bongiovanni, and grand baby arriving 9-11-22; his siblings, William “Bily” (Rose) Jones, Julie “Kim” Jones (Carlos) Rosaly, Cedric K. (Stephanie) Jones; sister in law, Terri Golden; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, the Bongiovanni family, and Kade Batey (Heather)  and the Batey Bunch also survive.

A Celebration of Jonathan’s life will be held on Saturday, April 30, at 4:00 pm at his church, Pine Grove Baptist Church. The family will receive friends for a visitation beginning at 3:00 pm at the church.
