Johnny Lee Ealum, beloved husband, daddy, and Popa, passed away on February 2, 2024, at UF Health Shands Gainesville. He was born on February 16, 1952, in Bartow, FL and spent his childhood and young adult life there. In 1991, Johnny moved his family to Old Town where they have all remained. Johnny dedicated his life to being a truck driver and traversed many roads throughout his career. He took great pride in his profession and always performed his duties with utmost responsibility and care.
Johnny could be stubborn, but a playful side and loved to joke around. He also possessed a remarkable ability to calm those in distress with his kind words and warm presence. Johnny had an unwavering love for the Lord and cherished his relationship with God. His faith guided him through life's ups and downs.
Family meant the world to Johnny. He adored his wife of 52 years, Eleanor Ealum, whose unwavering support sustained him throughout their journey together. A loving father, Johnny leaves behind two children: Gary (Tammy) Ealum and Melissa (Jason) Hunt. His grandchildren held a special place in Johnny's heart: Carissa Ealum, Paislee Hunt, and Maranda Hunt. His brother Edward Ealum and sisters Mary Bunton and Cecelia Summers also mourn the loss of their dear brother. Johnny was preceded in death by his parents Claude Ealum and Mary Watson, sister, Dorothy Skidmore and brothers, Robert Ealum and Michael Ealum.
A service to honor and remember Johnny's life will take place at 2:00pm on February 8, 2024, at the Watson Milton Funeral Home in Trenton, FL. A visitation time will be held one hour prior beginning at 1:00pm. He will be laid to rest immediately following the service at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Trenton, FL.
