John Walter Heaton

December 23, 1964 — February 13, 2025

John Walter Heaton, a beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather, passed away on February 13, 2025, in Gainesville, Florida, at the age of 60. Born on December 23, 1964, in Green Cove Springs, Florida, he was known for his friendly nature and his remarkable ability to connect with everyone he met. Wherever he went, John never met a stranger and always made a lasting impression on those around him.

His warm spirit and love for life were evident in the cherished memories he created with his family. John was proud of the life he built with his wife and soulmate, Brenda. John had an unbreakable bond with his four-legged companions, Jake, Jessie and Max. He was known for his love of fishing and camping, and his favorite vacation spot, Marathon Key, served as a backdrop for many family memories. The only thing he loved more than taking his boat out on the water was spending time with his family. Those who knew John will always remember him as a kind soul with an unforgettable laugh and a great impression of Donald Duck that made everyone smile.

John is survived by his wife, Brenda Lee Myers Heaton; his children, John Walter Heaton Jr., Justin Cory Thomas, and Stephanie Jean Starling; his siblings, Alex Heaton, Marvin Heaton, and Lowanda Keare; and his grandchildren, Cobi Jacob Sasser, Brayden James Sasser and Eliza Jordan Beasley.

John is preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Regina Heaton and his sister Nancy Heaton.
