Jimmy Leggett

Jimmy Clark Leggett, 82, of Trenton, Florida, loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully at Haven Hospice in Chiefland on Thursday, April 18, 2024. Jimmy was born on September 30, 1941, in Judsonia, Arkansas, to Jennings and Roxie Leggett. He married Patricia “Patty” Robbins on December 16, 1961, and they had three children, Greg, Damon, and Alicia. Jimmy moved his family to Newberry, Florida in 1974, where he worked in construction and later started his own business (Leggett Construction) which thrived until he retired in 2006. Jimmy fiercely loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them as often as possible. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and gardening.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents, Jennings and Roxie Leggett, siblings Robert Leggett, Dennis Leggett, Dorothy Yingling, and Jean Miesen. Jimmy is survived by Patty, his wife of 62 years, sister Mona Steudel of Gainesville, Florida, children Greg (Jackie) Leggett of Gainesville, Florida, Damon (Xina) Leggett of Trenton, Florida, and Alicia (Brian) Mounts of Lutz, Florida, grandchildren Cathy (Mike) Weber, Chris (Taylor) Leggett, Linsey (Albie) Kozar, Hailie Leggett, Hadon Leggett, Nathan Johnson, Savannah Mounts, and Kody Mounts, great-grandchildren Riley, Mila, Layla, Sophie, Caitlyn, Matthew, and Madison, and great-great grandchildren Cheyenne, Trenton, and soon to be born Carter.
A memorial to honor Jimmy’s life will be held at the First Baptist Church in Newberry (25520 W. Newberry Road, Newberry, FL 32669) on Wednesday, 4/24, with visitation at 10:15 AM and service at 11:00 AM officiated by Pastor Andy Cook. The family will accept visitors for food and fellowship after the service in the church fellowship hall.
