Jestine Horne Brock

Ms. Jestine Horne Brock, age 88, of Trenton, FL, passed away peacefully at home on September 7, 2024, while listening to her favorite song, Beulah Land. She was born on April 15, 1936, to W.R. Horne and Pearlie (Langford) Horne. She grew up in Levy County and was a graduate of Bronson High School. After graduating, she married Felton Rogers, moved to Tampa, and began working as a Librarian. Mrs. Jestine went back to school and graduated with her degree in nursing. She started working at Tampa General, then moved back to Levy County in 1977. Mrs. Jestine went to work at the VA hospital and finally retired in 1992. She enjoyed arts and crafts, especially quilting, painting, and working with ceramics. She also enjoyed gardening and was an active member of her church, Pine Grove Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher and sang in the choir.

She was preceded in death by Felton Rogers; her husband, William “Chick” Brock; her daughter, Sandra Anita Gerisek; and her siblings, Windy Horne, Blonie Thompson, Joylean Gordon, and Sandra Anita Horne.

Mrs. Jestine is survived by her daughters, Marie Warburton and Gail Czaban, both of Trenton; four grandchildren, Kristy, Kari, Andi, and Jaime; six great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter; her sisters, Wanda (Richard) Lee of Memphis, TN, Lovezine (Bill) Rusnak of Beverly Hills, FL, and Wynette (Dwight) Petty of Old Town; numerous extended family also survive.

A funeral to honor Mrs. Jestine’s life will be held on Thursday, September 12, at 11:00 am at her church, Pine Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Jared Douglas officiating. The family will receive friends for a visitation beginning at 10:00am, at the church. She will be laid to rest in the church cemetery.
