James Lavett "Vett" Roberts, a cherished father, son, brother, uncle, and grandfather, was born on February 5, 1962, in Gainesville, FL. He passed away on November 6, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his loving and committed family. Known to everyone that knew and loved him as "Vett", he dedicated his life to the family tank company, beginning his journey in the business at around the tender age of 10. This commitment to his family's legacy lasted throughout his life, demonstrating his loyalty and work ethic. He graduated from Bell High School in 1980 and made the area his home for the rest of his life. Vett enjoyed a fulfilling life marked by his passion for the great outdoors finding joy in fishing, hunting, and exploring the mountains. Vett was known for his vibrant personality, engaging with life to the fullest and possessing a warmth that made him a pleasure to be around. He was a member of the Midway Church of Christ. He held a deep love for his family, particularly his grandchildren, with whom he spent much time and cherished dearly.
He leaves behind his parents, Gerald and Joanne Roberts; his daughter, Sherry, and her husband, Lex Walker; his brother, Joe Roberts; and sister, Rhonda, along with her husband, Darrell Thomas. He will also be lovingly remembered by his niece and nephews, Kevin Thomas, Kati Thomas, and Josh Wasson, as well as his beloved grandchildren, Chayse, Eli, and Alexis. He also leaves behind many family and friends that will miss him tremendously. Vett is preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Mark and Leo Hall and George and Sallie Roberts and his sister, Dina Roberts-Wasson
A funeral service to honor Vett will be held on November 8, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Midway Church of Christ, located at 5750 W Co Rd 232, Bell, FL 32619. Vett will be laid to rest at the Midway Cemetery, after the service. The family encourages all who knew and loved Vett to join in remembering the joy he brought into their lives.
