James Monroe "Big Jim" Jones, Sr., age 79, died at his home in Bell, FL on Sunday, September 24, 2017 after a long illness. He was born in Trenton, FL on January 22, 1938 to the late C.V. Jones, Sr. and Aline Asbell Jones and was a native and lifelong resident of Bell. Big Jim was a farmer and a long time employee of White Construction/White Farms. He was a member of Jennings Lake Seventh Day Adventist Church and was also very involved in the Gilchrist County Farm Bureau, Gilchrist Cattlemen's Association, FFA Alumni and the Suwannee River Fair Association.
He is survived by his two daughters, Michele (Mark) Watson and Karen Jones; his three sons, Jamie (Teressa) Jones, Jody (Clare) Jones and Craig (Avigal) Jones; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening, September 26, 2017 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Graveside Services for Big Jim will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday morning, September 27, 2017 at Jennings Lake Cemetery with Mr. Anthony Drew officiating.
