James Haskel Berry Sr., age 54 of Gilchrist County, FL, passed away after an 11-year battle with cardiomyopathy and congestive heart failure. James was born December 17, 1968, in Columbus, OH to Albert and Linda Lee(Ruggles) Berry. James was Roman Catholic and belonged to San Juan Mission in Branford, FL. He graduated from Bell High School class of 1986, served in the marines then moved back to Florida where he worked as an ASE certified mechanic. Before his health declined in recent years, James loved to be on his boat fishing and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He loved to cook, watch movies, listen to music, sit and talk with family and friends, and enjoying the company of his two dogs, Snapper and Sassy. James was always there to help everyone; he would call everyday to see if there was anything that you needed. He loved to take care of his friends and family, we always believed he truly had a servant’s heart. If there was anything that seemed impossible, he would somehow make it work.
James is survived by, his mother Linda Lee Ruggles Berry of Branford, FL; his wife of 29 years, Penny Jenkins Berry of Branford, FL; daughters, Jennifer Leonard, and Sarah Berry ; son, James ( Lindsey) Haskel Berry Jr.; sister, Heather Berry Faison of Trenton, FL; brother, Roy (Jesse) Berry of Memphis, TN, Todd (Jessyca) Berry of Cross City FL; granddaughter, Alice Edmunds of Gainesville, Fl and numerous extended family members and friends.
James wishes were to be cremated with no funeral and a BIG party, that will be announced at a later date. The family asks for prayers as they mourn the loss of James who was considered their rock.
