Mr. Franklin “Roosevelt” Stalvey, age 91, of Trenton, FL, passed away on December 2, 2023, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born on November 30, 1932, in Trenton, to Edward O. and Thelma (Beach) Stalvey. He was a lifelong resident of Gilchrist County and graduate of Trenton High School. After graduating, Roosevelt was drafted into the United States Army where he served several years. After returning home, he enrolled in classes at the University of Florida before deciding to farm full-time. Over the years, Roosevelt farmed watermelons, peanuts, tobacco, and cattle. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. He was also active in the community where he served as a School Board member for 12 years as well as on the Zoning Board for over 30 years. Roosevelt was a member of Center Hill Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Charles Stalvey. Roosevelt is survived by his loving wife of almost 68 years, Shirley Marie (Shepherd) Stalvey of Trenton; his children, Diana (Tim) Richards of Nashville, Wayne (Minnie) Stalvey of Trenton, Greg (Trisha) Stalvey of Trenton, and Brian Stalvey of Trenton; his seven grandchildren, Brittney Walls of Hawaii, Stephen (Megan) Stalvey of Trenton, Breanna (Parrish) Parnell of Chiefland, Jessica (Jack) Lindsey of Hatchbend, Stephanie Stalvey of Newberry, Ryan (Victoria) Stalvey of High Springs, and Logan Stalvey of Weirsdale, FL; his 8 great-grandchildren, Ellana, Thea, Mavis, Ellie, Marlie, Brantley, Callaway, and Beckham; his sister, Edna Carlson of Trenton; numerous extended family members.
A graveside service to honor Roosevelt's life will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at 11:00am at Center Hill Church of Christ Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Watson-Milton Funeral Home. 352-463-8888
