Mr. Elmer Clifton “Mac” McGinley, age 82, of Old Town, FL passed away on September 28, 2021, at the UF Health Shands hospital in Gainesville. He was born March 11, 1939, in Hagertown, PA. At 18, Mac enlisted in the United States Coast Guard where he served 4 years. After his service, he went to mechanic trade school in Marietta, GA. He married the love of his life, Carol Vivian Echols in 1959. The couple lived in Georgia until the 70’s when they moved to Orlando. Mac worked as a diesel mechanic all his life and had a mobile mechanic business. He was known as the “ Detroit Man”. In 1991, they moved away from the busy life of Orlando and ended up in Old Town. He loved to ride motorcycles and was a member of the BMW MOA Club and the Poverty riders. He was also a member of the American Legion.
Mac was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 40 years, Carol Vivian McGinley; his daughters Karen Hamm and Kim Cornell; and his brother, Julius McGinley.
He is survived by his daughter, Kathy McGinley of Holly Hill, SC; his son Keith McGinley of Iowa; grandchildren, Adam, Justin, Kyle, Jacob and Kirsten; great grandchildren Adelaide and Lilly and his brother, Skip McGinley; numerous extended family also survive.
