Douglas Burton Hart Sr., 74, passed away in Hospice care on August 30, 2023 in Chiefland, FL.
Douglas joined the United States Marine Corps at the age of seventeen and served honorably in the Vietnam War. He received several medals awarded to those who carried out feats of valor and extraordinary heroism including the Cross of Gallantry and three Purple Hearts.
He loved fishing and spending time with family and friends. He was preceded in death by many beloved pets including his dear cat, Sassy.
Douglas is survived by his son, Douglas Hart Jr.; daughter and son-in-law, Edna and Jack Quinby; grandchildren, Amanda Pease and Skyler Nicole; great-grandson Alexander Manuel; Sisters, Thomasine Dunham and Shirleymae Giani; nieces, Jeanne Vargo Smith, Christina VanDerveer Lininger and Renne VanDerveer Parks; and his nephew, Jack VanDerveer
The family would like to extend a special note of thanks for the love and care provided by his caretaker, Jodi.
A committal service with military honors will be held at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL on Monday, October 2 at 2:00 pm.
