David Mikell peacefully passed from this life on November 4, 2018 at Ayers Health and Rehabilitation Center in Trenton. He was born on July 14, 1930 in Bell to Henry “Albert” & Clara Mikell. Other than his time in the US Army where he proudly served in Korea, he was a lifelong resident of Gilchrist County.
His passions in life were serving the Lord, his family, hunting, farming and cattle. He owned and operated Mikell Farms and Mikell’s Liquid Fertilizer for over 60 years. He was always available to lend a helping hand or offer advice to the many younger farmers as they were trying to get started in agriculture. He actively served and attended Midway & Bethel Church of Christ his entire lifetime. He was a 50+ year member of Farm Bureau where he served on its Board of Directors for over 40 years. He also served on several other Ag advisory boards over the years.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, brothers Edsel Mikell, Douglas Mikell and William H (Bill) Mikell, sisters Wanda Durrance, Freda Roper. He is survived by his wife of 61 years Margie Allen Mikell, sons Craig Mikell (Judy) of High Springs, and Jeffrey Mikell (Dawn) of Bell. Four grandchildren Tyler Mikell, Cory Mikell (Carly), Gabby Mikell, and Kyle Mikell. Brother Thomas Mikell of Gainesville, sisters Annetta Beazlie & Blanch Sanders of Gainesville, and Eva Mae Swanson of Arizona and a multitude of nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
There will be a visitation at Watson Funeral Home, 426 West Wade Street, Trenton on Tuesday November 6th from 6:00-8:00 PM. The funeral service will be on Wednesday November 7th, 11:00 AM at the Trenton Church of Christ located at 502 NE 7th Street, Trenton FL. Burial will be at the Midway Church of Christ cemetery in Bell.
