Clayton "Clay" Lucas Whitmore, a beloved son, brother, uncle, and cherished member of the Bell community, passed away on February 1, 2025, at Shands in Gainesville, Florida. Clay was a dedicated professional who built a successful career as the owner and operator for CDT Trucking. His passion for trucking was evident throughout his life, as he worked tirelessly to provide for his family and serve his customers with integrity and kindness.
A proud graduate of Bell High School, Clay’s educational background laid the foundation for his successful career in the trucking industry. Beyond his professional commitments, he was known for his warm and approachable nature. Clay had a remarkable ability to make people smile, often sharing his goofy jokes and light-hearted spirit with those around him. His kind demeanor and willingness to help others were defining traits; he would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need.
Clay cherished his time outdoors, particularly enjoying fishing and boating, activities that allowed him to connect with nature and create lasting memories with family and friends. He cultivated strong bonds with his loved ones, which included his mother, Jane Whitmore; his sister, Florence Whitmore; and his brothers, William Wisniski and Val Wisniski. Clay also took great joy in being a loving uncle to his nephews, Dustin, Justin, Brandon, and Caleb, as well as his nieces, Riley, Nicole, and Ashley.
Clay is preceded in death by his father, Frederick Whitmore, and his sister, Selma Wisniski. His passing leaves a profound void in the lives of his family and friends, who will remember him for his kindness, laughter, and unwavering commitment to those he loved.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during Clay’s burial service, which will be held at Watson Milton Funeral Home in Trenton, Florida, on February 9, 2025, at 2:00 PM with a viewing and visitation starting an hour prior, at 1:00. Clay will be laid to rest following the service at Bell Cemetery. The service will be an opportunity for those whose lives he touched to come together in remembrance of a life lived with generosity and joy.
