Major Charles Brewington Sr., a devoted family man, passed away on December 20, 2024, in Trenton, Florida. Born on September 18, 1942, in Plant City, Florida to Landis and Mary (Marhevsky) Brewington.
Charles graduated from Williston High School in 1960 and soon after, in 1961, enlisted in the Navy. His dedication to service led him to transfer to the Army, where he joined the Special Forces. During his military career, Charles served three tours in The Vietnam War, achieving a field commission of Major Charles Brewington Sr. Following his active duty, he continued to serve in the reserves for six years and later shared his knowledge and experience as a ROTC teacher at The University of Florida.
Professionally, Charles built a successful career as a Senior Supervisor for General Electric. Known for his serious demeanor and unwavering commitment, he earned the admiration of colleagues and peers alike. He was a hard worker, known for his loyalty to his family and friends, and a great sense of humor.
Outside of his professional life, Charles enjoyed various hobbies. He loved working in his yard, finding peace in tending to his plants. He was a reader, who took a particular interest in history. As well as a travel bug, who loved exploring the south east.
Charles leaves behind his beloved wife of 57 years, Carolyn Brewington, and their three children: daughter Robin (James) Hunter, and sons Ramon Brewington (Teresa) and Richard Brewington (Robyn); His grandchildren, Jesse Hunter, Zach (Brittany) Hunter, Jake (Ashley) Hunter, Chase (Chelsea) Brewington, Ray Brewington, Jasmine Brewington, Kyndal Brewington and his great grandchildren, Avelie, Haven, Violet, Emery, Brayden, Brynleigh and Tyton.
He is preceded in death by his parents and son, Chuck Brewington Jr.
Charles will be deeply missed by his family and friends, always remembered for his steadfastness, dedication, and the joy he brought to those around him. His legacy of commitment, love, and laughter will continue to shine in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
A funeral service to honor Charles will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at Watson-Milton Funeral Home, Trenton at 3:00 PM. The family will receive friends for a visitation beginning at 2:00 PM.
