Betty Lucas, a cherished soul and vibrant spirit, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2025, in Gainesville, Florida, at the age of 86. Born on March 6, 1939, in Akron, Ohio, Betty lived a life full of love, joy, and unwavering faith.

Betty was said to always be happy and had a deep love for God, which guided her through many seasons of life. Over the years, she cultivated a profound connection with nature, finding delight in feeding birds and tending to the beauty that surrounded her. Her appreciation for the world around her was a reflection of her loving spirit—a spirit that touched the lives of all who knew her.

For the last decade, Betty was an active member of Suwannee River Baptist Church, where she, shared her love and faith with others. She embraced her role in the church with warmth and dedication, inspiring many through her kindness and devotion.

Betty had an immense love for her children and grandchildren, who were the center of her life. She cherished every moment spent creating memories together. She was not just a mother and grandmother but a guiding light and a source of support and joy.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Vanetta Hartong; husband, Richard W. Lucas; her brothers, Royal Lee Hartong, Ward Hartong and Joy Hartong; as well as her four legged best friend, her dog "Little Bit". 

Betty is survived by her sons, Darrell Lucas (Tracy), Richard Lucas and Ronald Lucas; her sister Ruth Molador; her grandchildren, Scott (Kellyann) Lucas, Ryan Lucas (Patty), Nathan Floyd, Justice Floyd, Amelia Gagnong, Kailey Floyd and Andrew Gagnong; her great grandchildren, Braylen Lucas, Zachary Lucas, and Angelica Dowdy (Hawk); as well as two great great grandchildren. 

A funeral service to honor Betty will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025, at Watson-Milton Funeral Home. Trenton, at 2:00 PM. Family will receive friends for a visitation beginning one hour prior to the service at 1:00 PM. Betty will be laid to rest immediately following the service at Old Town Memorial Cemetery.
